synopsis.

THE CHARACTER:

DORAMAPHILE do·ra·ma·phile (noun)

A portmaneau of DORAMA – the “romanized English loanword ‘drama’ in the Japanese language” and PHILE – one that loves, likes or is completely attracted is completely and hopelessly addicted to (something). Someone just about 5ft tall short with a deepseated adoration for all things Japanese, a slightly obsessive-compulsive complex and a penchant for ranting and raving about all the little (and perhaps, not-so-little) elements that go into the haloed institution that is The TV Drama. Particularly, those of the Japanese variety. Because they have lots and lots of Ikemen! uh…shed poignant insights into the human condition. Someone like…me.

THE PLOT:

Beciuase I am suddenly like, drowning in time…I have finally started this blog after months of succumbing to procrastination or else, petty obstacles (like THE A-LEVEL EXAMS! Dun Dunn~!!!) as a repository for the many thoughts I sometimes have watching Jdramas; criticism and lavish praise that are always on the verge of bursting out of me…if only there were somebody in my social circle to listen, hahaha.  Welll, these thoughts have to go somewhere…and you can think of this blog as some sort of a dam.

Uh.

In other words! I watch (mostly obsessively), I bitch (sometimes mercilessly) and  now I blog!!!

THE RATINGS:

I shall do as most other drama-reviewers do and have a duo-rating system!

The first is my (admittedly, very inexpert) judgement about a drama’s technical flaws and merits (that is, casting, direction, soundtrack and set…among other technical things I don’t even know the names of) andthe second, the “loveability” of the drama to allow for the subjectivity of all things art(-ish, anyway). Think of it as the X-Factor, if you will. I shall rate both upon ten because…well, I suppose it allows for more range than five and isn’t as complicated as a hundred mark scale, right?
